Ok. You know when you create something and you are just giddy about the way it turned out? That’s how I feel about this plate I created yesterday! I love it so much that I’ve entered it in the Fall Home Decor Challenge in the Moxie Fab World.
I was checking out one of my most favorite blogs, House of Smiths (Shelley is maybe the cutest thing ever and I really want to know her IRL, cause I think we’d be friends), and I was just loving the home decor she created using vinyl decals that she creates (& sells). Then I thought – “Wait a second! I have a big white charger plate – and I have the Cricut Artiste with some super cool Halloween shapes…now if only I had some vinyl…”. And then it occurred to me, I did have vinyl. I had a sheet of Close to My Heart’s new Chalkboard Vinyl!!!! The rest is history…and this is what I made:
I set my Cricut to vinyl setting – Pressure 3. It cut like BUTTER! And then easily stuck to my plate. I know, this vinyl is a little more expensive. But for a project like this, I think it’s worth it. And I found that the vinyl is a lot thicker than the Cricut Vinyl so it was really easy to add to the plate.
Let’s make it EVEN easier! Here is the Cricut Craft Room file for you to upload. All you have to do is load your vinyl, your Artiste Cart and click CUT! My plate is 12″, so you may need to vary the image sizes depending on how big yours is!

When Cate came home from school, she asked me when I bought the plate. She was so cute when I told her I made it. I get happy every time I walk by my plate. Mike is getting a little sick of me asking him to tell me how much he loves the plate!
Now, I’m just hoping that CTMH comes out with more colors of vinyl!!!
